Arun District Council is warning that an online Bognor poll is not official, any votes registered in this way won't count.

The official Bognor Regis Urban Area Poll takes place tomorrow, Wednesday, April 13, and those registered must physically turn out to their polling stations to cast their vote.

Nigel Lynn, returning officer at Arun District Council said: “It has been brought to our attention that an online poll has been posted via social media channels and via a leaflet drop, stating that it ‘enables those who cannot vote in the official Poll on Wednesday, April 13 to do so online.’

“It also states that ‘This will apply to residents in the parishes of Aldwick, Bersted, Felpham, Middleton, and Pagham, as well as residents in the six Town Wards of Hatherleigh, Hotham, Marine, marine North, Orchard and Pevensey who either are not registered to vote or who are and cannot get to the Official Vote.’”

“We would like to clarify that this poll is not an official poll and no votes entered will be counted.

“Online and postal votes are not part of the poll and we believe the message in this communication to be misleading.

“To be eligible to vote for this poll, electors must have been registered by April 5, 2016 and live in one of the six wards in the Bognor Regis Town Council area - Hatherleigh, Hotham, Marine, Marine North, Orchard and Pevensey.
