Hospitality assistant Martyn Davis was quite shy when he started working at Valerie Manor, in Henfield Road, in September 2009. Zoë Bates, owner and manager, said: “Martyn first started to work at Valerie Manor as a young worker in the role of a kitchen assistant. Martyn was quite a shy and quiet young gentleman who the staff and residents have seen grow and develop into such a caring young man who brightens up the day for everyone.” Martyn was a finalist in the ancillary worker category, which was won by chef Tom Johns, who works at Ifield Park care home in Crawley.
